Math & Statistics Tutoring

Building real understanding in math and statistics — from high school to university.

I'm Vikas Jasyal: a mathematics and statistics graduate teaching students one-on-one and in small groups. I make abstract ideas concrete with worked examples, practice problems, and interactive tools — not just formulas.

About

A tutor who has done the math — and studied how to teach it

My background spans pure and applied statistics as well as formal teacher training, so I can meet a student wherever they are: a Grade 9 struggling with algebra, or a university student wrestling with hypothesis testing.

I completed my Bachelor of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University, then went on to earn a Master of Science at Cleveland State University, where I was awarded a full tuition and Graduate Assistantship (GA) scholarship — teaching and supporting undergraduate coursework along the way.

I'm currently completing my Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University to become a certified high school teacher, which means my tutoring is grounded in current pedagogy, curriculum standards, and assessment design — not just subject knowledge.

I've already put this into practice teaching at Williams Academy, a private school in Cobourg, Ontario, working directly with high school students on math and building the classroom skills I bring to every session.

Today I tutor two groups: high school students who need a clear, patient guide through math and statistics, and university students who need a stats-fluent instructor who can explain concepts from first principles rather than just running through slides.

Interactive statistics tools

A preview of how I teach: hands-on, visual, and built for understanding rather than memorization.

Descriptive Statistics Calculator

Enter a list of numbers separated by commas to instantly see the mean, median, mode, and spread — the same first step I walk students through in every stats course.

Z-Score & Normal Distribution Explorer

Give a raw score, mean, and standard deviation. I'll compute the z-score and the approximate area under the normal curve to its left (the percentile) — a core skill in every intro stats course.

Quick Practice Quiz
